THE BOROONDARA HAWKS
A SHORT HISTORY
The Boroondara Hawks JFC (BHJFC) was established in 2008 by foundation and stakeholder clubs Canterbury JFC, Balwyn JFC and Hawthorn Citz JFC to provide a quality and specifically tailored football program for 15–17 year old boys, ensuring a pathway for the players to senior football. Local junior clubs often experience a drop-off of older players as a result of private school footy and the commitments of senior high school, and by offering a pathway for those looking to continue playing the Hawks have been able to grow.
In 2022 the club rebranded both its logo and playing kit and introduced its first girls team at Under 15. With a smart new look and a commitment to providing a fun and inclusive experience for all players in Under 15-18 footy, we look forward to welcoming you to the Boroondara Hawks.
WHAT WE'RE ABOUT
The Hawks are all about giving players the opportunity to play football at the level that best suits them.
THE CHANCE TO PARTICIPATE
To continue to play football at their right level, commensurate with their development and skills.
To continue to play with friends, while also meeting new friends.
To accommodate the pressures of school life to allow the ongoing involvement in Club football.
Players game participation records continue uninterrupted, with game tallies at the Hawks being added to their tallies at other YJFL clubs in order for game milestones to be recognised.
OPPORTUNITY TO IMPROVE SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
To continue playing a quality standard of football, by individual and team development.
Workshops and guest trainers throughout the year.
QUALITY COACHING PROGRAMS
Providing quality skills coaching and analysis based on the individual ability of each player.
The implementation of a structured skill development program, through the use of an age related coaching curriculum.
Skill and knowledge development that introduce team set plays and tactics.
Most importantly we are all about having some good old fashioned fun!
