Exciting things coming for the Hawks in 2022!

After a couple of very challenging seasons of footy, we are already very much looking forward to what we and the league hope will be a full season in 2022. We have also been planning some exciting new directions for the Hawksfor next year and I would like to take this opportunity to let you know about this and at the same time anticipate the prospect of being able to provide you all with more news in the New Year. Rebrand I am pleased to tell you that we are now at the final stages of launching our new apparel (game day and street wear) complete with new colours and look for our club. We have tried to incorporate the colours of our partner clubs, Canterbury Cobras and Balwyn Greythorn Jets. We are expecting this all to be launched after Xmas. As soon as I can, in the New Year I will share more details, including hopefully images of what our Hawks players will be wearing in matches in 2022. Registrations Registrations are now open for season 2022 via the below link: Alternatively you can register from the Hawkswebsite: The AFL/YJFL have changed registration and competition management platforms from SportsTG/GameDay to PlayHQ. PlayHQ is used across many sports so you may already have an account. You will be able to use this account to register for the Hawks using the link above. If you are new to PlayHQ, an account is needed to register players for Season 2022 (please use this link Note: Create an account using your details not the child/players details). As part of registering you will be able to claim your previous playing history (as appropriate) - please ensure you use the same email address and registration details (First name, Surname, DOB) you have used previously. If any issues, please contact Sarah ( Being very aware of the unfortunate circumstances of the past couple of seasons, the committee has discussed at length what fee structures we should adopt for 2022. With this in mind, our club fees portion of registration will be reduced to $165, with the club covering the costs of the new shorts, socks and playing jumper in 2022. Hoodies, training tops and bags will be available to purchase separately. In addition to the club fees of $165, the YJFL fees will be $177.45. Both these fees will need to be paid at the time of registration. Female footy I would also like to formally welcome our inaugural under 15 girls team to the Hawks community. This came about as a result of the wonderful partnership we have with the Balwyn Greythorn Jets. We have also been lucky enough to secure a grant through the Strategic Community Investment Fund (SCIF) which will assist with the establishment of girls footy at the Hawks. If you know of any family with daughters aged 14 or over who might be interested in playing footy with their friends please pass on my contact details. We are looking to develop a strong female playing presence at the Hawks in the coming years. We anticipate this is just the beginning. Boys footy A big welcome to the 2021 U14 Canterbury Cobra's families who have been added to this email distribution list. We look forward to meeting you all through 2022! We are expecting representation at all age groups - the age groups will be the same as this season (U15s, U16s and u18s). Please don’t delay in registering for the 2022 season, we start planning for teams and grading very soon so registrations help to inform how this might look. If you know of any boy or girl aged 14 or over looking for a great club with great people and a great culture please pass on my details I’d love to talk them into giving the Hawks a go. Coaching We have almost confirmed all our coaches for the 2022 season, all we need now is to know how many teams we will have. Pre-season training. We are looking to kick off pre-season training in mid January for those available. Players in each age group will be contacted by their coach directly in January with more information on dates, times and training locations. Website and socials We are pleased to announce the launch of the new Boroondara HawksWebsite. Thanks to Simon Wirth for all the work to get it to this stage. We are continuing to add content, including and importantly some FAQ’s to answer some of the most common questions we are asked, for example; How were the Hawks established? Why do we start at under 15? How does the model work? Who are the partner clubs? If you have any suggestions for other questions please let me know. We also now have a wonderful Social Media Manager onboard. Thanks to Linda Muir and her team for agreeing to take this on for the Hawks. So look out for a lot more content coming out on the socials in the New Year. Sponsorship I am pleased to communicate that we are in talks with a couple of sponsors for the 2022 season. We will make a formal announcement in due course. Sponsorship is an area of fundraising that we have never actively gone after so this is a huge change for the club and sign of things to come. If you would like to help, or know of possible sponsors we might approach, please let me know directly. Hawks Committee positions Like all clubs, our volunteers are our life blood. Whilst we have a great committee, we are really keen to welcome others as “many hands make light work”. If you are interested in being a part of a wonderful football club committee, or simply curious about the work of the committee, don’t hesitate, let me know. We are particularly interested in getting committee representation for our inaugural female team or anyone who has an ability to help coordinate social events, merchandising or sponsorship.
